Remedial works to the access track have started this track is approximately 340m in length, through a wood land which is owned by a third party, it will need to be able to withstand HGV's carrying building materials in and taking spoil out as this is a huge excavation project, the extension, alteration, refurbishment and external works to a 2 storey 18th Century cottage on an isolated sloping site. Demolish a single storey service lean-to built into the hill with a larger 2 storey extension increasing the floor area by a further 60% including new dining hall, fireplace, staircase, bedroom, bathroom, porch, utility and WC; internal alterations to the existing cottage including construction of a new central chimney stack with ground and first floor fireplaces in lieu of the existing stairwell; refurbish the exterior of the cottage with full re-roofing and rafter insulation, new double-glazed metal frame windows throughout by others and various masonry repairs an oak loggia, together with associated other external works.
The excavations have taken place and the new slab for the extension has been laid, the retaining wall behind the new dining room and stair tower has been cast and is awaiting waterproofing by a specialist company, Cannon Clarke, the reinforced wall behind the Loggia is to have a a board finish, with sandblasted boards laid staggered to create a natural look, the reinforced concrete is in place and the temporary shuttering will be removed next week once it has set and then the boards will be removed. Most of the roof on the original part of the house has been stripped repaired and re tiled, a new valley has been built and new velux windows fitted to give additional light to the study, all of the windows have been removed and the stone Mason, Brian Hill, has been repairing the original cottage mullions and will sympathetically restore the mullions in the newer extension and then create new mullions for the new extension and the new doorway made into the lounge, giving side access out to the Loggia area. The new wall to divide the patio area outside the lounge with the driveway is being built and this will be clad with Doulting Stone, this now has a sweeping curve. The waterproofing has been completed and the blockwork has been completed on the new extension and the Doulting Stone outer layer is now complete,  the timber frame, has been built in softwood onsite by our carpenters, for the stair tower and the new porch/hallway, this is now being clad with Oak between Bronze casement windows. The Gabion baskets around the parking area are almost complete and the backfill of the retaining wall has been completed and the area leveled ready for the client to complete. 1st fix M&E has also been completed, the Stone roundel window has been installed the Quions have been completed on the new porch. The plasterboard has been completed in the existing part of the property the new extension has been plasterboarded and will be rendered and plastered.
